Get To Know Me Award

So I don’t know if this is an actual award, but it seemed appropriate for the blog post title, so I hereby make this an award!!!! Not sure about nominations, so I’ll make it a free for all, go crazy, anyone can do it!

Anyways, I saw my friend and fellow blogger Jasmine do a post with a bunch of questions and her answers for her readers to get to know her and I wanted to do the same, answering the questions she had, so here goes!

If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

On an island. Or a forest or mountain even.

What motivates you to work hard?

I don’t know really. It’s something that was drilled into me a lot by my father growing up to do my best with work around the house and cause he always complained about how little I and my family did no matter if we had just did a HEAP of work around the house and out the back, so to try and keep him from screaming at us, I would try and go around secretly doing not only my work, but others work that they were at that moment not doing because we were all scared of my father.

So, while working hard is a good trait to have despite how I got that trait, I guess it’s fear and the desire to please that mainly drives me while working, though I’m working on trying to deal with and heal that so that when I work hard, it’s because I simply want to and because it needs to be done, not out of fear or anything like that.

What is your biggest fear?

Not sure.

What would you change about yourself if you could?

The side-effects of the abuse and toxic stuff I went through growing up that I didn’t see for what it was until last year.

What was the last movie you went to? What did you think?

The last movie I saw in theaters was Frozen 2 and I absolutely love it!

What did you want to be when you were small?

Doing gymnastics or be an actress as just a couple examples – I wanted to be a lot of things growing up.

What is your favorite book to read?

A James Rollins book, like Map of Bones.

What would you sing at Karaoke night?

I have actually done Karaoke for the first time recently, the songs I sung were Land Down Under, Johnny B. Goode, The Rose and stuff like that.

Other songs I wanna sing for karaoke night are: Stiches, There’s Nothing Holding Me Back, Circus (Britney Spears’ song), Toxic, Roar, Eye of the Tiger and stuff like that.

Who is your favorite author?

James Rollins and myself 😎

Have you ever had a nickname? What is it?

There’s “Rach” and “Rue” and someone over the Internet had the “Rae” nickname for me, though I can’t remember who that was. And then there’s my boyfriend’s nicknames for me, but they’re more private ones at this point. 😊

What is the worst gift you have received?

I haven’t received any bad gifts as far as I remember. Gift giving is a big thing for me, so I think not receiving any gift would be a big blow for me. And I don’t mean gifts as just material things, I mean gifts like time together, physical touch (like hugs, snuggles, touching hands, kisses, nuzzles, hair ruffles, head pats and such), a simple message or conversations with loved ones or words of affirmation or just some sign of love and affection – all of those I consider gifts, so to not receive any gifts of any kind (especially the non-material kind) would be a huge blow and would be the worst kind of gift or lack of for me.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Take a flight over to America, also get my drivers license and my own place.

How many pillows do you sleep with?

Anywhere from two to four, and they have to be nice big stuffed ones.

What’s the longest you’ve gone without sleep (and why)?

I don’t remember – and it was probably due to traveling.

Have you ever had a secret admirer?

Not that I know.

What was the last book you read?

The last book I was reading was called Cinders and Sparrows, but that was lost in the fire, unfortunately.

What’s the most daring thing you’ve ever done?

Hmm…I don’t know, actually….

What’s your favorite movie?

Probably Avengers: Infinity War or Avengers: Endgame

How old were you when you learned Santa wasn’t real? How did you find out?

I never believed in Santa. My family never tried to claim that there was some random weirdo breaking into everyone’s houses giving presents, they just said the presents came from them and we never really got into Christmas either for other reasons.

So I never really believed in Santa the guy, but I do believe in Santa in a way – in my opinion, Santa refers to everyone who’s giving presents to everyone, secretly setting things up for others surprise and delight the next morning. Spreading joy, light and all that other gooey, feeling stuff.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done in the name of love?

Depends on your definition of crazy, I guess.

Is there anything you wish will come back into fashion?

Um….I don’t know

Are you related or distantly related to anyone famous?

I got a few famous people in my ancestry, but you’d have to ask my older brother cause I don’t remember who they are at the moment.

Does your family have a “motto” – spoken or unspoken?

Not that I can immediately think of.

What celebrity (from the past or present) would you like to meet at Starbucks for a cup of coffee?

Steven Spielberg

Who was your first crush?

Matt Damon…I have no idea why…

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

I’m both hellfire and holy water and the flavour you taste depends on how you treat me.

What is one thing you will never do again?

Have perculated coffee

Who is the most intelligent person you know?

Who is your favorite teacher in school and why?

My Mum.

What song would you say best sums you up?

All of Anna’s songs from the Frozen movies.

What is you go to jam song?

At the moment it’s Circus or Don’t stop the music.

What do you do to keep fit?

Do you collect anything?

No, not really

Is your glass half full or half empty?

It’s half-way.

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

Somewhere in Ancient Egypt

List two pet peeves

  1. Entitled people
  2. Having to get out of bed

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I’m not thinking of that cause things keep coming up and throwing a wrench in the idea

Who would you want to be stranded with on a deserted island?

My boyfriend and my cousin, Jessica.

How would your (internet) friends describe you?

They said:

  1. a nice, friendly, helpful person
  2. and kind
  3. and cute
  4. you give off peaceful vibes and I’m very comfortable around you
  5. You’re an awesome Aussie and a great friend who always looks on the bright side of things!
  6. You’re a cool chick who has a deep understanding of a lot of things
  7. You’re very polite

What is the best gift you have been given?

This is a hard one

Who would you want to play you in a movie of your life?

Me cause then I know that I am being protrayed very accurately.

In the evening, would you rather play a game, visit a relative, watch a movie, or read?

Since I can only pick out of these four options, I will pick a game and a movie, though there are other things I would do as well, but they are not on the list.

Writing, drawing, colouring in, reading and making YouTube videos

What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?

Some weeds from the garden thinking it was spinach *shudders from the memories*

What three things do you think of the most each day?

Honestly? Stuff my boyfriend says when we chat – it could be romantic, funny, or something serious or just something small – but I like to think about it.

Then there’s any plans for the day

And I’m not sure about a third as my mind goes literally anywhere during the day

What was your first job?

Volunteering at an op shop – still have the job. Been applying for jobs elsewhere, waiting to hear back from them.

If you were ruler of your own country what would be the first laws you would introduce?

I’d have to think on that, honestly.

What kitchen appliance do you use every day?

A knife

What is your favorite childhood memory?

I’ve got a few – getting this mini-canvas thing from my father with a flower to paint, which I redid a couple weeks ago, but I lost it in the fire *sad sigh*

When I was very young I remember going and sitting on my father’s lap and us snuggling on the couch and I fell asleep.

When I was about four and my Mum was pregnant with one of my younger brothers and she let me try and little bit of coffee, knowing that I would find it disgusting and not ask for it until I was actually old enough to have it.

Listening to “Revival in Belfast” music growing up, I don’t know why, but those memories of listening to it as I grew up are very precious to me.

Wearing this specific jacket of my father’s – it was black and had all these paint stains on it (it was like his work jacket, that he would wear when working around the house). It smelled nice to me and had this safe, loving feel to it which I lost with my father growing up, but I would feel again when I would go somewhere quiet and wear the jacket. Which probably shouldn’t be a favourite memory, but wearing it is a favourite memory, so *Shrugs* don’t know what that says about me

Time spent with my Grandma.

And lying in either of my parents beds when I was sick or feeling down.

Aside from necessities, what one thing could you not go a day without?

  1. How about an island with a mountain with a forest? Sounds amazing. Doesn’t it?

Working hard’s been drilled into me, too. I don’t think fear and/or the desire to please is what motivates me to do good work nowadays. It’s more of a … moral? thing? It just feels like the right thing to do. If everyone did their part, our lives would be so much easier. I have to deal with so much BS because not everyone is like that and then I have to pick up the slack.

Your warning label is great. I can get behind that.

    Great read.

    Stay golden!
